Bill Wohl has a 30+-year career in communications, brand, and reputation management, and is recognized as a leading strategic communications expert.
In the corporate world, Bill held executive and leadership positions at brands including HP, United Rentals, SAP, Commvault and Remington.
In addition, Bill has been advising technology companies on corporate communications, including Arrow Electronics (in association with Westmeath Communications); Unify, formerly known as Siemens Enterprise Communications; and Zuora, among others.
Today, Bill runs Wohl Communications LLC, advising companies on their public relations strategies, social media techniques, brand, messaging, media training, CEO counseling, and crisis communications.
Most recently, Bill was Head of Brand & Communications for United Rentals, the $9+ billion leader of the construction and industrial equipment rental market, improving brand equity and consideration, while counseling leadership on a major phishing crisis response and through a leadership transition.
Prior to that, Bill was the Chief Communications Officer at Commvault, the leading global provider of data management software. There he advised the company on an activist shareholder response, while increasing awareness and employee engagement.
Bill served as Senior Vice President & Chief Communications Officer for Hewlett-Packard, then a $130 billion leader in the IT industry with 320,000 employees. There he led communications, reported to the CEO, and provided strategic communications counsel to the executive team.
Prior to joining HP, he worked for 12 years at SAP AG, where, as a member of the company's senior leadership team, Bill was one of the company’s primary spokespersons. He directly counseled SAP's CEOs and executive board members on communications for major corporate and product topics, including strategy, litigation, M&A and product launches.
Bill managed communications at the computer industry’s largest independent hardware service provider, DecisionOne Corporation. Bill also led public relations and communications at Remington Arms, a leading firearms and sporting goods manufacturer, and at the DuPont Company. His first assignment was on the public relations staff of the Office of the Governor of the State of Delaware.
Bill has been a guest on Bloomberg's Market Maker program, talking about crisis communications and reputation management in the context of issues with the Boeing 787 aircraft and Carnival Cruise Lines' efforts to rebuild its corporate reputation.
Bill was featured as the cover story of the August issue of PR Week magazine; was named 21st among PR Week’s Top 50 communications executives to watch in 2011; was nominated to The Holmes Report Influence 100 (top in-house communicators in the world); and was recognized 4th among the Top 20 Social CMOs of the Fortune 100 by Social Media Graphics.
Bill holds a Bachelor Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Delaware. In his spare time, he has served more than 35 years as an emergency medical technician and firefighter, responding to emergency 911 calls for the volunteer fire department in West Grove, Pennsylvania (an organization for which he also served in various leadership roles including President and ambulance captain).
